Tikkun
תיקון Tikkun
Tikkun means "correction" or "repair"; in Kabbalah it is the personal work of fixing the patterns that keep repeating in your life.
Tikkun (תיקון) is the Hebrew word for “correction” or “repair.” You may know the phrase tikkun olam, repairing the world. In Kabbalah, tikkun also has a personal meaning: the particular thing each soul is here to correct.
How you recognize it
Your tikkun usually shows up as a pattern that repeats: the same kind of relationship, the same money problem, the same argument with a different person. Kabbalah treats this repetition as information, not punishment. The situation comes back because the correction hasn’t happened yet.
Tikkun and the six patterns
On this site, tikkun is made practical through six reactive patterns: the Approval Seeker, the Controller, the Scorekeeper, the Fighter, the Rescuer and the Hider. Most people recognize one or two. That pattern is a good first map of your tikkun. You can find yours with the pattern quiz.
Correcting it
A tikkun isn’t fixed by insight alone. It’s corrected in the moment the old pattern fires and you choose differently. That’s why the core practice here is the Pause: Stop, Name it, Choose.
